Teyn Church (Church of the Virgin Mary before Týn) at the Old Town Square
The Teyn Church, also known as the Church of the Virgin Mary before Týn, is located directly at the Old Town Square. It is a Roman Catholic church built in the High Gothic style. Even before its construction, a predecessor, a early Gothic chapel, stood on the same site. Foundations of the previous building were used for the new construction. The new church was built around 1380, but construction continued until the early 16th century. Today, the west facade with the two towers, facing the Old Town Square, is particularly iconic. The church is thus one of the landmarks and key attractions of the city.
