Vincent Willem van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert on March 30, 1853 and was a Dutch painter and draftsman. He is considered one of the founders of modern painting. The museum is dedicated to its art and history.
With more than 2 million visitors a year, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is one of the most visited art museums in the world. Since 1973, visitors from all over the world have been able to admire works by the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. The museum owns over 200 paintings by Vincent van Gogh from all creative periods and 400 of his drawings by the artist. These include the works “The Potato Eaters”, “The Bedroom in Arles”, “The Almond Blossoms”, “The Sower” and a version of the “Sunflowers”. Today, the museum also owns works by other artists, which are exhibited. Among others by Bernard, Boulanger, Daubigny, Denis, Jongkind, Millet, Monet, Munch, Puvis de Chavannes, Redon, Seurat, Signac and many others.
In addition to the artworks, the museum also houses Vincent van Gogh’s letters and van Gogh’s suicide weapon.
